About

For more than 45 years, University of Rochester’s Mt. Hope Family Center (MHFC) has delivered evidence-based trauma and preventive services to thousands of families each year in Greater Rochester, providing hope through healing, promoting resilience, and reducing the incidence and impact of trauma including child abuse and neglect.

One of MHFC’s cornerstone programs, Building Healthy Children Program (BHC), starts prenatally as an in-home, wraparound service that supports young mothers through the birth of their baby and toward long-term goals in education, employment, and self-sufficiency. Extended through age 3 of the child, BHC addresses practical needs of young families, the trauma recovery and mental health needs of parents, and the healthy development of children with a focus on parent-child bonding and school/learning readiness. BHC has been shown to improve birth outcomes, prevent child abuse and infant fatalities, and lower overall healthcare costs.

Triple your investment! Funds raised for this program will be matched 2:1 through New York State’s Community Option Prevention Service (COPS) funds.
