Our priorities

Help shape the spaces where our mission comes to life. Our building projects go beyond bricks and mortar—they support exceptional care, groundbreaking research, inspired teaching, and dynamic environments where bold ideas take root and our community thrives.

• Transdisciplinary centers: Tom Golisano’s transformative $50 million gift enables us to build the Golisano Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Institute at the Medical Center. The gift—the largest in the University’s history—makes it possible to bring together all of the University’s expertise in IDD to become the worldwide gold standard for IDD health, services, and outreach.
• A bigger, better hospital: The Strong Memorial Hospital Expansion Project—the largest capital project in the University’s history—will nearly quadruple the size of the emergency department and add more than 100 inpatient rooms, allowing us to diagnose and treat patients more quickly, in more comfortable spaces that better serve the health needs of our community.
• Modern research facilities: Designed to accelerate cross-disciplinary research, a new science and engineering building is being imagined for River Campus—one that will house modern research laboratories and provide critical opportunities for student experiential learning.
• Student life: Modernizing living and enrichment spaces is a top priority and essential for supporting students throughout their academic journeys. In addition to recent upgrades and renovations, plans are proceeding for a new Student Life Building on River Campus.
